In second phase, Chhattisgarh aims to cover around 35 lakh beneficiaries in state. Currently, the state owes 4.64 lakh doses and health officials has appealed senior citizens to come forward for taking vaccine.
In ongoing vaccination drive, at least 53.5% of turnout was reported across state on Friday. Of target of 1,31,655, as many as 705,37 were vaccinated across state. Of these, highest turnout of 120% was reported from Mahasamund where 7104 beneficiaries were vaccinated and lowest turnout of 43 % was reported from Narayanpur, where 332 beneficiaries were vaccinated.
As per vaccination drive data, among receivers of first dose in category of healthcare workers as many as 86.86% people are vaccinated accounting for 2,77,770 healthcare workers against target of 3.19 lakh. Balod district has topped the chart by vaccinating 96.%. Among receivers of second dose, as many as 54% healthcare workers are vaccinated across state, Balod, again, secured top position with 77.9%.
In category of frontline workers, about 80.9% have received first dose. Raigarh accounted for highest—92.2%. While 60% of them have got second dose.
In category of senior citizens and people between age group of 45 to 59 years of age the total turnout of 15.3% has been reported so far. Out of target of 35,19,955 as many as 5,41,611 have been vaccinated since March 1.
In view of the increase in corona infection in the state, where tally of active cases has crossed 6753 and cumulative tally has increased to 3,21,880, doctors are repeatedly issuing warnings to obey Covid preventive norms.
Ambedkar’s pulmonary specialist Dr RK Panda said, Senior citizens should avail the covid vaccine without any hesitation. In view of the current season, corona examination should be done whenever one experience slight cold, cough and fever.
